Kelli Gilchrist works full time as a Firefighter with a large fire department in Colorado and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. She has a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. Kelli plays a major role in her department’s Peer Support Team and founded a support group for the spouses of the department.
Kelli is a full-time mom, step-mom and wife. She is married to Jeff Gilchrist, a fire department Lieutenant. Kelli “grew up in the firehouse,” as the daughter of a retired truck Captain of 37 years.
She takes a practical and integrated approach to help find clear solutions, and hopefully a sense of calm. Peace of mind, body and heart can be so difficult with the work that we do. She understands the difficulties of the job, the importance of confidentiality, and how this work can affect our children and family. Kelli is also trained in EMDR Therapy and has had great success with emergency responders and their families.
Building Warriors is a peer run nonprofit specialty group of responder counselors and peer specialists providing direct services and training to support emergency responders, healthcare professionals, and others afflicted by traumatic experience.
