Scott Heiss was a twenty eight year member of the Denver Fire Department. He retired as Division Chief of Safety and Training in 2018. During his career he was very involved in both physical and mental wellness. The philosophy of total wellness is very important in the fire service. He was fortunate to work with and teach for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation for seven years.
During this time it became apparent that both physical and mental wellness are paramount to serving the citizens and having a long healthy career both on and off the job. He is humbled and proud to be on the Board of Directors of Building Warriors. Being a first responder is a family affair for him. His father in law, brother in law, brother and nephew are all part of the fire service and his son in law is a deputy sheriff.
Building Warriors is a peer run nonprofit specialty group of responder counselors and peer specialists providing direct services and training to support emergency responders and their families.
